This 4 hours tour gives you the opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Ancient Athens is one of Europe's oldest cities, one with a continuous history whose beginnings can be traced some 5.000 years ago. The Greek capital is known as the cradle of democracy. Exploring the imposing Rock of the Acropolis, the cradle of Western Civilization. Learn more about the Propylaea, the temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon, the Erechtheion , the Odeon of Herod Atticus, the ancient theatre of Dionysus, the first in human history. Discover some of the most important sightseeing places of the city such as the Panathenaic Stadium, the stadium that the first modern Olympic Games took place in 1896. We continue at the Syntagma Square, where the Greek Parliament is located, with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier fronting it and we will watch the changing of the Guards, two Evzones - members of the presidential Guard (a select military corps) - stand on both sides of it, in traditional costume. Stroll to the National Garden, where Zappeion is located an emblematic 19th c. historic edifice, used today as a venue for official ceremonies and meetings, the Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Zeus and the Old Parliament building. Climb on Lycabettus Hill, a green location, on the top of which you will enjoy a lovely view of the entire city and drive along Vasilissis Sofia Avenue which is lined with neoclassical buildings, embassies and museums. Before heading back explore Plaka and Monastiraki, the city's oldest districts with numerous bars and tavernas. Sample the regions culinary splendors tasting souvlaki’’ the traditional Greek food.   • The Acropolis Museum opens from 08:00 AM-8:00 PM. Tickets cost €15 The Acropolis opens from 08:00 AM-7:00 PM in the summer (April 1 to Oct. 31) Tickets cost €30-€35 online. And from 08:30 AM-3:00 PM during the winter season (November 1 to March 31). Tickets cost €10-€15 online Acropolis multi-tickets cost €30 and include the Temple of Zeus, Ancient Agora, Roman Forum, Kerameikos, and Theatre of Dionysos All sites and museums are closed on January 1, March 25, May 1, October 28, Christmas, and Boxing Day Sites open from 12:00 PM-3:00 PM on Good Friday; Holy Saturday from 08:30 AM-3:00 PM; closed on Easter Sunday; Easter Monday open from 08:30 AM-3:00 PM During the summer, please wear light clothes, athletic shoes and avoid dark colors.
